Cancer/Surgical Oncology

Berkshire Surgical Associates surgeons have been taking care of cancer patients since the group was founded in the 1970's.  Specific surgeries include esophagus, liver, colon, pancreas and breast, including mastecomies. Needle localization and sentinel node biopsies are also performed.

 

State-of-the-Art Surgery
As cancer treatment has advanced during recent years, the practice sought to extend cancer surgery to less common more complex surgeries such as those of the head and neck, lungs and throat. In 2005, Dr. DiSiena joined the group to provide state-of-the-art cancer surgery to Berkshire County. Dr. DiSiena, who has advanced training in surgical oncology and pathology, adds knowledge and experience of innovative surgical and chemotherapy procedures.  This enables him to work with patients to design individualized treatment plans.

Weekly Caner Conferences
Weekly multi-disciplinary cancer conferences are held at the hospital where selected current cancer cases are reviewed by specialists and primary care physicians. This review offers patients the advantage of having many experts add their expertise to oncology treatment plans.
